Artist Statement

Julian Siegelmann (b. 1990) is an artist and designer whose practice spans sculpture, installation, and composite material fabrication. His work draws on engineered materials — found cardboard, natural resins, pigment stains, and organic waxes — to interrogate the relationship between surface, value, and technological ambition.

Building on a Masters in Design Engineering from Harvard, Siegelmann constructs a research-centred practice rooted in material science and cultural history, reading shifts in human behavior driven by technology as starting points for potential future utopias. Prior to his studio practice, he founded Parlor (2019–2022), an art financing and lending platform modelled on the rental programs of LACMA and the Whitney.

His first exhibition, Do You Love Me Now (Berlin, 2025), transformed found cardboard into rigid composite forms with polished industrial surfaces, examining how ambition and innovation have reshaped our relationship to objects, value, and each other
